I also really wanted to get the depth of African American skin without using colour, to show how light played off black skin.I notice that many of the subjects in your pieces have tattoos, what was the inspiration behind that?With the political atmosphere with George Floyd and the Black Lives Matter movement I was seeing Black bodies being criminalized and I wanted to show the beauty instead. I wa nted to show that tattoos aren't about being a thug or a criminal, but that it's about expression. It's almost like you get to be your own personal billboard.
